Dustin and I have set up a beautiful workspace in the vibrant Berkeley neighborhood at College and Alcatraz. The jewelry studio faces Dustin’s glass studio, across a courtyard. We put in four extra benches and we would like to invite a few Revere graduates to use them on a full time basis. In exchange, we ask studio members to improve and maintain the workspace, house and grounds. Together we want to create the most beautiful, nurturing and vibrant studio possible. And we want to apply whatever skill sets people to have to maintain and improve the environment.

This is an opportunity for a few people with desire and energy who appreciate the opportunity to set up and work in a secure first class studio in a great neighborhood. Ideally, we envision four people using the space full-time, probably with different schedules.

The Studio

We are looking for people who are confident and competent in the studio, self-directed and motivated, passionate and committed, creative and cooperative. Studio members will work on their own projects; commissions, new designs, production of their collection, learning projects, etc. Membership does not include instruction although I will be in the studio from time to time and when I’m there I’m happy to answer questions and help out.

The studio is available full time. Membership includes 24/7 access along with an assigned bench and a locking cabinet or two. The arrangement for full-time access is to contribute 8 hours per week for studio maintenance, repair, and other tasks. This enables people to work as much as they want with their own bench, using all the equipment, tools and facilities including gas, oxygen and electricity.

At this point, we will consider people who want to work halftime and perhaps share a bench. This arrangement allows members to work up to 20 hours per week in exchange for 5 hours of studio work.

Studio membership is on a monthly basis. The details of the arrangement may change over time. Studio work must be completed and hours banked before members are able to use the facility for their own work. If you are interested in paying a monthly fee instead of working, we can discuss it.

Questions? Please let me know. If you are interested in becoming a studio member, complete this application and return it to me, using as much space as you need.

Happy Hammering,

Alan
