The Toolbox Initiative - a volunteer non-profit organization created in 2014 by jewelers Tim McCreight (member and publisher of Professional Jewelry Making) and Matthieu Cheminée. The mission is as simple as it is meaningful — to deliver donated jewelry tools and materials to working jewelers in West Africa. With hundreds of years of metalworking tradition, artisans there make jewelry of exceptional beauty, often working with the barest of tools and equipment. The Toolbox Initiative is a unique opportunity to seek balance by shifting tools from a place of excess to a place of need, the hands of our talented colleagues.
